Baylor's Acy Beats Down Texas

So, I don't really have a lot of comments about the game with Baylor. Baylor is just a better team and Scott Drew is a better coach.

Texas turned the ball over late again. Not a great thing when you are trying to close out a game.

There was one spot where I thought Barnes really could have called a timeout and it might have made a difference. Texas was down three with 30 seconds left. Barnes left it to Kabongo to go up the floor (clearly not pushing, but looking to get the ball to Brown) and I felt that Kabongo did not push it like he should have. He wasted about 15 seconds and then finally forced the ball to Brown who was well guarded and threw it away. It was almost like Kabongo new he was supposed to give the ball to Brown at the end so that Brown could go 1 on 5 against the Baylor defense while everyone else stood around watching. Stupid idea and a stupid play and it resulted in an ill-timed turnover.

Ideally, Kabongo needs to be the go-to-guy in that situation. C'mon coach, give him a vote of confidence. Kabongo is the fastest kid in the school yard and he should keep the ball in that situation. Especially since both Baylor guards had 4 fouls and Baylor is double-teaming Brown. Kabongo can go around his guy at any time and the Baylor guards were backing off anyway, not wanting to foul. Further, since Baylor is double teaming Brown it makes it that much easier on Kabongo... if the defense collapses at all, then someone else has got to be open!

Anyway, a time-out and a good plan would have been better than what they did, which was force the ball to Brown, watch him go 1 on 5 and turn the ball over. Nice end-of-game planning there coach. Oh well, who knows what idiotic thing Barnes would have come up with if he had called a timeout anyway!
